Dangers of Not Doing Windows Updates
Windows updates are an important part of network security. They provide the necessary fixes and security updates for your computer, without them your computer would be open to attacks on known security vulnerability.
You often need to patch security problems as soon as possible to fix whatever the problem is. After a patch is released, the security hole becomes public knowledge. Attackers now know the problem and can rush to start exploiting it as soon as possible before people update. Attackers know business and home users are often slow to update, and they can wreak some havoc in the time before people patch.
Just setting your computer to automatically update is not enough. Many times updates can fail or if is a major update it may need to be approve by the user. Patch Management needs constant attention and is not only for Windows. Adobe, Java, Anti-Virus and many other software commonly loaded on computers need to be updated for the same reasons.
